Fire Department News

Out of an abundance of caution and in lieu of the Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Office, the City of Waynesboro is issuing a BURN BAN within the jurisdictional boundaries effective Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at 1500 hours (3:00 pm) until Saturday, March 23, 2024 at 1600 hours (4:00 pm).

The temporary BURN BAN includes outdoor cooking that utilizes an open fire and fires in a portable outdoor fireplace. Charcoal and gas grills are exempt from the burn ban.

In most instances Open Burning within the City of Waynesboro requires the issuance of a Burn Permit by the Waynesboro Fire Department. A link to the City of Waynesboro Fire Department Burn Policy is shown below:

Questions may be referred to Captain David Nichols, Assistant Fire Marshal at 540-942-6730.
